How we verify

Every fact on this site comes from a source we can link to. We never fill a gap with a guess, and we don't test devices ourselves, so we don't publish impressions. This page explains which sources we trust first, how we label features by country, how we keep the data current and how we handle mistakes.

Which sources come first

We rank sources in a fixed order. First come official help centers and support articles, because they describe what a product does now and are updated when features change. Second are official newsrooms and press releases from the maker. Third are official store pages, which are the best evidence of price and where a product is sold. Only after those do we use named press, such as a national newspaper or an established technology site, and we credit the outlet by name. Rumors are labeled as reported and attributed. When two official pages disagree, we show both and say which is newer.

Dates on everything

Each source has an accessed date, and each device and feature record shows when it was last verified. A date tells you how much to trust a figure: a price checked last week is more useful than one copied from a launch announcement two years ago. When a page we rely on changes, the new date replaces the old one and the change appears in our changes log.

The four availability states

For each feature, device and country we use one of four states. Available means an official source says the feature works there. Not available means an official source says it doesn't. Announced means the maker has said it is coming but it hasn't arrived. Not confirmed means the maker hasn't said either way. We use Not confirmed for silence because silence isn't proof of absence: features often reach a country before a help article is updated, and some never get listed at all. Marking silence as Not available would give you a false answer.

Change watch

We recheck the official pages behind our records every week: help center articles, newsroom feeds and regional store pages. When wording, a price or a country list changes, we update the record, move the verified date forward and log the change. If a page can't be read, the record keeps its last verified date until we confirm it again.

Corrections

If you find an error, email hello@framesandfeatures.com with the page and, if you can, a link to the official source. We check it against the source, correct the record and note the correction in the changes log with the date. We don't silently rewrite figures. If a maker contacts us, we treat its information the same way: we update the site when the official page says so.
