Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 3) vs Meta Glasses (Adventurer, Fury, Starfire, Capri, Nova)
Meta now sells camera glasses under its own name as well as Ray-Ban's. Meta Glasses launched in June 2026 in styles called Adventurer, Fury, Starfire, Capri and Nova and, according to UploadVR, share Gen 2's chipset, camera, speakers, battery and storage. Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3 arrived in September with a six-mic array, a wider camera view and a slightly longer rated battery. Meta Glasses start at $299 in the US and Gen 3 at $449, so the question is what the extra money buys.
Short answer
Meta Glasses are the value pick: the same Meta AI app and the core camera, audio, calling and translation features for much less. Gen 3 earns its price if call clarity, the 100-degree camera and Ray-Ban styling matter to you, or if you need a published Rx range up to +6.00. Note that Meta's help pages exclude Meta Glasses from conversation focus.
Choose Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 3) if
Choose Gen 3 for the newest hardware: six mics that Meta says cut more than 90% of background noise, 9 hours of mixed use, 50 more hours from the case, IPX4, and 3024x4032 photos across a 100-degree view. The Rx range runs from -12.00 to +6.00 on most frames.
Choose Meta Glasses (Adventurer, Fury, Starfire, Capri, Nova) if
Choose Meta Glasses if price comes first, or one of the Meta styles suits you better than Wayfarer or Zena. Meta rates them at 8 hours, with 40 more from the case. All frames take prescriptions, but published ranges conflict, so confirm with the retailer. A $249 Adventurer with a plug-in case goes on sale on 23 October 2026.
