6DoF and photo/video with XREAL Eye
The clip-in XREAL Eye camera adds 6DoF screen anchoring and 12MP photo / 1600x1200 video capture to One series glasses.[1]
XREAL Eye is a small clip-in camera for XREAL's One series glasses, sold separately. It adds two things. First, 6DoF tracking: the anchored screen now holds its place when you lean in or walk around, not only when you turn your head. Second, a camera: 12MP photos and 1600x1200 video from your point of view, taken with a press of the button on the glasses. It slots into the bridge of the frame. XREAL's spec page lists the One and One Pro; XREAL's store also lists the 1S as compatible.
Where it works
Ten of the biggest markets are shown. A tick needs an official statement for that country; "Not confirmed" means the maker hasn't said either way. For any other country use the lookup.
confirmed · maker says not available · not confirmed · announced · model not sold there
- XREAL 1S: confirmed in 27 countries.
- XREAL One: confirmed in 25 countries.
- XREAL One Pro: confirmed in 1 country.
- XREAL Eye: confirmed in 27 countries.
How it works
Insert XREAL Eye into the slot on the bridge of the glasses. The glasses already track rotation through their built-in chip, as covered under Anchor and Follow modes; the camera adds a view of the room so the glasses can also track position. For photos, press the button on the glasses, without taking out your phone or opening a camera app. XREAL says the Eye can take pictures with One glasses, but recording mixed-reality video, which combines the virtual screen with the camera view, needs the XREAL Beam Pro.
Turn it on
- Insert XREAL Eye into the slot on the bridge of a One series pair of glasses.
- Press the button on the glasses to take a photo; XREAL says Beam Pro is needed to record mixed-reality video.
Tips
- Check your model before buying. The spec page and the store list different compatible models.
- Plan on a Beam Pro if mixed-reality video is the reason you want the camera.
- Ask before photographing people; our sources do not mention a capture indicator on the Eye.
Limits
- Fits One series glasses; Air 2 models are not listed.
- Mixed-reality video needs the XREAL Beam Pro, per XREAL.
- Compatibility with the 1S differs between XREAL's spec page and store.
Questions people ask
Does XREAL Eye work without Beam Pro?
For photos and 6DoF, yes, per XREAL. Mixed-reality video recording needs Beam Pro.
What does 6DoF add over 3DoF?
3DoF follows head rotation. 6DoF also tracks your position, so an anchored screen stays fixed as you move around.
