How to restart or force restart Meta glasses

A restart is the first thing to try when the glasses freeze, stop responding to "Hey Meta" or lose their connection. A force restart is for when they won't respond at all. Neither one is a reset: Meta says a restart won't erase un-imported media or unpair the glasses, and a force restart won't delete captures or require pairing again. Most models use the power switch with the capture button held. Vanguard uses a long hold on its power button, and the Neural Band has its own sequence.

Tips

Questions people ask

What is the difference between restarting and resetting?

A restart turns the glasses off and on and keeps everything. A factory reset deletes captures and pairing, so keep it for when nothing else works or when the glasses change hands.
