Best translation smart glasses in 2026
Translation is one of the clearest everyday uses for smart glasses, and there are two ways to do it. Audio glasses such as Ray-Ban Meta speak the translation into your ear while the other person reads your side in the Meta AI app. Display glasses show translated text in the lens, so you can read along. Language lists, offline support and country coverage vary a lot, and the published lists change often, so check your exact language pair before buying. Worth waiting for: Samsung and Google's Intelligent Eyewear, where Google describes translated audio that matches the speaker's tone and pitch; its language list isn't published.
- Best spoken translation: Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 3)
- Best for reading translations: Even G2
- Best for hearing and reading: Meta Ray-Ban Display
- Best for meetings across languages: Halliday G2
- Cheapest spoken translation: Meta Glasses (Adventurer, Fury, Starfire, Capri, Nova)
How we ranked
We ranked by the number of published languages, offline support, whether the translation is spoken or shown as text, two-way support and the countries where each device is sold. Language lists come from the makers' help pages as of early October 2026. We did not test accuracy or delay, so treat each pick as a starting point and check your own language pair. The live translation page has the full language table.
1. Best spoken translation
Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 3)
- From
- $449
- Display
- No
- Camera
- Yes
- Prescription
- -12.00 to +6.00 total power (Gen 3 Aviator: -6.00 to +4.00)
Meta's live translation covers 20 languages over Wi-Fi or mobile data, and six of them (English, Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese and German) also work offline once you download the pack in the Meta AI app. You hear the translation through the speakers, and the other person reads your side in the app. Meta states no country restriction.
Watch out: Meta says only specific language pairs are supported, so check yours. Offline use needs the pack downloaded first, and Gen 3 costs $449.
2. Best for reading translations
Even G2
- From
- $599
- Display
- Yes
- Camera
- No
- Prescription
- -12.00 to +12.00 (sphere, per Even's G2 pages); support center lists SPH +8.00 to -12.00 and CYL ±0.25 to ±4.00
Even's Translate shows real-time speech translation as text in both lenses, with the original available alongside. Its published source list is the longest on this page, running from Catalan and Cantonese to Ukrainian, and Even states no session time limit. Conversate adds live transcription, optional translation and a summary afterwards.
Watch out: Arabic, Bengali and Hindi are one-way only, and two-way also excludes Cantonese, Swiss German and Brazilian Portuguese. Needs the phone online.
3. Best for hearing and reading
Meta Ray-Ban Display
- From
- $799
- Display
- Yes
- Camera
- Yes
- Prescription
- -4.00 to +4.00 total power (single vision only)
Display lets you hear the translation and read it in the color lens, and live captions show an English transcript of the person in front of you. Meta's Display page lists translation in English, French, Italian and Spanish, with more languages 'rolling out soon'. $799 includes the Neural Band. It also shows call captions.
Watch out: Four languages is far fewer than Meta's audio glasses offer. It costs $799, weighs 69 g and is sold in only six countries.
4. Best for meetings across languages
Halliday G2
- From
- $599
- Display
- Yes
- Camera
- No
- Prescription
- -9.00 to +2.00 SPH
Halliday builds its AI around meetings, with captions and translation in more than 45 languages according to press reports. The binocular display is rated at 1,600 nits, the 49 g frame has no camera, and Halliday rates the battery at 12 hours. Rx lenses run from -9.00 to +2.00 SPH. Halliday says non-Rx orders ship in 3 days.
Watch out: The language count comes from press, not an official list. AI plans run from free to $99 a month, and there is no camera.
5. Cheapest spoken translation
Meta Glasses (Adventurer, Fury, Starfire, Capri, Nova)
- From
- $299
- Display
- No
- Camera
- Yes
- Prescription
- -12.00 to +2.25 total power
From $299 in the US, Meta Glasses get the same live translation as Ray-Ban Meta, including the offline language packs, in the countries Meta lists for the line. Translation plays through open-ear speakers with a multi-mic array that reduces wind noise. Rated at 8 hours. Five frame styles are offered.
Watch out: Same language-pair limits as Ray-Ban Meta, no official water rating, and a shorter country list than Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2.
Questions people ask
Do translation glasses work offline?
Partly. Meta's camera glasses translate six languages offline after you download packs, but Ray-Ban Meta Audio supports translation only with a connection. Even G2 needs the phone online for Translate.
Can the other person follow the conversation?
On Meta glasses, the other person reads your side as text in the Meta AI app on your phone. On Even G2 and Halliday G2, the translated text appears only in your lenses. See how to use live translation for the steps.
