Live AI

A continuous Meta AI session that can see what you see, so you can ask follow-up questions without saying "Hey Meta" each time.[1]

Live AI is a running session with Meta AI that can see through the glasses camera. Instead of saying "Hey Meta" before every question, you start a session once and talk to it like a person standing next to you, asking about what is in front of you while you cook, shop or fix something. It is meant for camera models: Ray-Ban Meta, Oakley Meta, Meta Glasses and Meta Ray-Ban Display. Meta says it is in English and rolling out over time in the US and Canada.

Where it works

Ten of the biggest markets are shown. A tick needs an official statement for that country; "Not confirmed" means the maker hasn't said either way. For any other country use the lookup.

How it works

Say "Hey Meta, start live AI" and the session opens with the camera active. For the rest of the session you speak without the wake word. You can cut Meta AI off by saying "Stop" or by asking something new. "Pause live AI" or a tap on the touchpad pauses it, and "Hey Meta, resume live AI" or another tap picks it back up. "Stop live AI" or a tap and hold ends it. Because the camera stays on, a session uses more battery than a single question. An update in early 2026 lets Live AI give longer, more detailed answers on Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta models when you ask. Official steps are on how to use Live AI.

Turn it on

  1. Say "Hey Meta, start live AI".
  2. Ask questions naturally about what is in front of you.
  3. Say "Hey Meta, stop live AI" to end the session (it uses more battery).

Questions people ask

How is Live AI different from asking Meta AI about what I see?

A normal camera question is one-off and needs "Hey Meta" each time. Live AI keeps the camera session open so you can ask follow-ups without the wake word.

Does Live AI work on Ray-Ban Meta Audio?

No camera is fitted to Ray-Ban Meta Audio, so the camera-based Live AI session does not apply to it.
