Offline live translation
Live translation without an internet connection, after downloading language packs in the Meta AI app.
Offline live translation is the same conversation translator as live translation, minus the need for a signal. You download a language pack to the glasses through the Meta AI app, and after that those languages translate on a plane, in a basement restaurant or abroad without roaming. Meta offers it on Ray-Ban Meta, Oakley Meta and Meta Glasses. Ray-Ban Meta Audio is the stated exception: it translates only with a connection. The offline set is a short list of major European languages plus English; everything else needs data.
Where it works
Ten of the biggest markets are shown. A tick needs an official statement for that country; "Not confirmed" means the maker hasn't said either way. For any other country use the lookup.

How it works
Translation normally relies on Meta's servers. For the offline set, the pack holds what the glasses need to translate locally. In the Meta AI app, go to the glasses' device settings, open Translate and download each language you want. Meta's article says some languages are available offline and that you must download the pack first; it does not publish pack sizes. Once installed, you start a session exactly as you would online: pick "You speak" and "They speak" and tap Start, or use the voice command. The other person still reads your side on your phone screen, which works without data. If you pick a language outside the offline set, the session needs Wi-Fi or mobile data.
Tips
- Download packs at home over Wi-Fi a few days before you travel, then test one short session in airplane mode.
- Keep the phone charged; the other person reads your words on it even offline.
- Check both sides of the pair. Offline only works when both languages are in the downloaded set.
Limits
- Not available on Ray-Ban Meta Audio, per Meta.
- Only some languages work offline; Meta's broader language list needs a connection.
- Meta does not state offline support for Meta Ray-Ban Display in the article we track.
