How to factory reset the charging case

Applies to Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 3), Meta Glasses (Adventurer, Fury, Starfire, Capri, Nova), Ray-Ban Meta Optics (Gen 2), Oakley Meta Vanguard, Meta Ray-Ban Display, Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 2), Oakley Meta HSTN, Ray-Ban Meta Audio, Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 1) and Ray-Ban Stories.

Resetting the case is a separate job from resetting the glasses, and the method depends on the model. Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta cases use the button on the back, Meta Glasses use a button on the charging pad inside, and the Meta Ray-Ban Display case is reset by plugging and unplugging its USB-C cable in quick succession. A case reset is worth trying when the case lights behave oddly or the glasses stop charging even though the pins are clean.

Official steps

  1. Ray-Ban Meta / Oakley Meta: Remove your glasses from the case. Press and hold the button on the back of the case for more than 16 seconds to factory reset the case.
  2. Meta Glasses: Press and hold the button on the top right of the charging pad inside the charging case for more than 16 seconds.
  3. Meta Ray-Ban Display: Open the case. Insert and remove the USB-C cable from the USB-C port on the ridge side of the case 3 times within 11 seconds. The LED next to the USB-C port blinks white when the reset is successful.

Still not working?

If the case still misbehaves after a reset, try a different cable and adapter, then contact Meta or Ray-Ban support. Mention the model, since each case resets differently, and what the LEDs show. Cases are usually handled under the same claim process as the glasses, so keep your proof of purchase with the serial number. See reset the charging case.

Questions people ask

Does resetting the case erase the glasses?

Meta lists the case reset separately from the glasses reset. It is meant for the case's own charging behavior.
