Glasses won't pair with the Meta AI app

Applies to Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 3), Meta Glasses (Adventurer, Fury, Starfire, Capri, Nova), Ray-Ban Meta Optics (Gen 2), Oakley Meta Vanguard, Meta Ray-Ban Display, Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 2), Oakley Meta HSTN, Ray-Ban Meta Audio, Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 1) and Ray-Ban Stories.

Pairing failures on Meta's camera glasses usually come down to three things in Meta's own guidance: the glasses are not charged or switched on, Bluetooth is off on the phone, or the glasses are still linked to someone else. Meta allows only one Meta account to be paired at a time, so secondhand pairs and family hand-me-downs are the classic case. Pairing mode is entered from the case button or the capture button, and the LED turns blue when it is ready.

Official steps

  1. Make sure the glasses are charged and switched on, and Bluetooth is on on your phone.
  2. Put the glasses in the charging case, then press and hold the button on the back of the case for 5 seconds until the LED flashes blue (pairing mode).
  3. Alternatively, with both arms folded, hold the capture button about 12 seconds until the internal LED blinks blue.
  4. Open the Meta AI app, sign in with your Meta account and follow the pairing steps.
  5. If the glasses were paired to another account or phone, unpair them there first (only one Meta account can be paired at a time).

Still not working?

If pairing still fails after a reset of the pairing state, note the exact error in the app and contact Meta or Ray-Ban support. Have the serial number ready: it is in the app if you paired before, and printed on the inside of the left arm otherwise. A pair bought used may need the previous owner to remove it from their account; support cannot always do that for you.

Questions people ask

Can two phones pair with the same glasses?

Not at the same time. Meta says only one Meta account can be paired at a time, so unpair from the first phone before setting up a second.

What color is the LED in pairing mode?

Blue. Meta's steps say the LED flashes or blinks blue once the glasses are ready to pair.
