Forgot the Meta Ray-Ban Display passcode

Applies to Meta Ray-Ban Display.

The passcode on Meta Ray-Ban Display locks the glasses, and Meta's help is blunt about losing it: it cannot reset or recover the passcode for you. The only route is a factory reset of the glasses, done with the arms closed and a sequence of capture-button presses, and then a fresh setup in the Meta AI app. Anything still stored only on the glasses goes with the reset. The passcode is six digits and protects messages, AI-generated content and media albums; Meta asks for it each time you put the glasses on or wake the display.

Official steps

  1. Meta cannot reset or recover the passcode.
  2. Factory reset the glasses (close both arms, press capture 5 times then hold until the LED pulses white and orange), then set them up again.

Steps from the maker's support pages.[1]

Still not working?

If the factory reset will not start, charge the glasses and try again with both arms fully closed. If it still fails, contact Meta support with proof of purchase, since a passcode lock without a working reset needs their help. After setup, choose a passcode you can recall, or store it in a password manager. Opening a claim with Meta needs the serial number and proof of purchase.

Questions people ask

Can Meta support reset my Display passcode?

No. Meta says it cannot reset or recover the passcode. A factory reset is the only option.

Will a factory reset delete my photos and videos?

It deletes every capture still on the glasses. Media you already imported is safe, because Meta says import moves it to your phone's photo app and removes it from the glasses.

What does the Display passcode protect?

Meta says it secures personal information such as messages, AI-generated content and media albums. You enter it each time you put the glasses on or wake the display.

Do I have to pair the glasses again after the reset?

Yes. Meta says a factory reset requires you to unpair and then re-pair the glasses with the Meta AI app, then set up a new passcode if you want one.
